Today is our taster of the famous Meseta, perhaps the most intimidating section of the whole Camino. This is because the Meseta can become extremely hot in the summer months and some pilgrims find the lack of shade and parched views to be monotonous. At Fresco Tours we cannot disagree more, and we hope that you join us in our appreciation of the stark beauty of this region and its endless horizons and open skies. On that note, we do not run this tour in the summer, so expect cool and pleasant weather.
The Meseta offers a unique and contemplative experience for pilgrims, providing ample time for introspection and personal reflection as they walk the long and seemingly endless paths. The Meseta is an essential part of the Camino de Santiago, testing the determination and resilience of pilgrims while offering a profound sense of spiritual and personal growth along the journey to the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral in northwestern Spain.
After a bus transfer to the Chapel of San Nicolás from Burgos, we start our walk to Boadilla del Camino where we end and have lunch.
On our way to our overnight in León, we visit the Roman remains of the Villa Romana La Olmeda, a perfect appetizer for our upcoming visit to Lugo and its Roman walls.
