The Meseta stretches out ahead, quiet and golden, as you leave behind the medieval charm of Sahagún. Just outside town, you cross the Puente Canto, a humble stone bridge that has carried pilgrims over the Cea River for centuries. It’s a subtle but meaningful landmark—one last nod to Sahagún’s rich past before the Camino leads you back into the open countryside.

The walk today crosses a section of Tierra de Campos, a region known for its vast skies and wheat fields. The terrain is flat and the dirt trails wide, perfect for settling into a steady rhythm and letting your thoughts wander. The path eventually brings you to Bercianos del Real Camino, a quiet village with adobe homes and a timeless feel. It’s a lovely place to pause and enjoy the stark beauty of this Spanish region. From there, we continue through open fields and seasonal wetlands, where the silence is broken only by birdsong and the crunch of your boots.
