Pamplona - Uterga

Zuriain - Pamplona

Day 5

Accommodations: Pamplona (B, L, D)

Walking: 17 km / 11 mi

Our stage today takes us from Pamplona to Uterga. After breakfast we depart from Pamplona and make our way to Cizur Menor, where we can visit the Church of San Miguel Arcángel. Today, the Camino gives us the first steady climb to the “Alto del Perdón” (Hill of Forgiveness). With an elevation of around 770 meters (approximately 2526 feet) above sea level, the summit reveals a striking monument known as the “Monumento al Peregrino.” The piece consists of large, silhouetted metal sculptures of medieval pilgrims, symbolizing the pilgrim’s journey and the perseverance required to reach the summit.

Among the highlights of the hike are the breathtaking panoramic views from the top, a perfect photo opportunity of the surrounding countryside, with picturesque landscapes and the Pyrenees mountains in the distance.

This spot offers a perfect place for a fresh salad from a Frecso Tours picnic while we rest our legs before our descent. After coming down the hill we regroup and return to Pamplona, where we have some time to continue exploring the city and its history.

After visiting some of the town’s ancient monuments or maybe doing some shopping, it’s time to enjoy a dinner of local cuisine to get ready for another day along The Way!
