After a few kilometers we reach Caldera de Tejeda, one of the most important geological formations on Gran Canaria, spanning the municipalities of Tejeda, San Mateo, and Artenara. It is a large volcanic caldera, formed by the collapse of an ancient central stratovolcano approximately 5 to 4 million years ago during the Roque Nublo volcanic cycle. The caldera measures roughly 28 km across and contains notable rock formations such as the Roque Nublo and the Roque Bentayga, surrounded by deep ravines, fertile valleys, and high-altitude pine forests. Over millions of years, erosion and subsequent volcanic activity have shaped a complex landscape rather than a perfectly circular crater.

Our hike will take us along a section of the eastern ledge of the caldera, all the way to our hotel and the end of the stage. Prepare yourself for some breathtaking views!
