After the success of our first ever Virtual Camino de Santiago along the Camino Frances, we’re lacing up our boots and getting ready to retrace our footsteps along Fresco Tours’ Virtual Camino Portugués!
Following the itinerary of our Camino Portugués Tour, we’ll be posting day by day photos of each stage; starting from Guimaraes, the birthplace of Portugal, we take to the rolling countryside of vinho verde, slowly making our way north across Galicia’s albariño wine country all the way to Santiago de Compostela. On our way we’ll be following 2000 years of history, along Roman Roads, past Napoleonic War Battle Sites and even crossing an international border!
However, perhaps the highlight of the Camino Portugués is that we will be walking in the footsteps of Saint James; as it was in the town of Padrón where his boat arrived 2000 years ago and where he lived and preached before returning to Jerusalem.
